DO GENES DETERMINE WHETHER WE ARE LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, OR STRAIGHT?
Sorry I'm late with this.  I should have posted it on National Coming Out Day.

This is a position paper by the Council for Responsible Genetics.  You should read this baby, no matter who you snuggle up to.

i am amazed that this is still a question.

I do think that there is a biological explaination. will we ever find it? no. should we be looking for it? no. people dont just decide to be gay. if that were the case people would just choose to go back to being straight rather than commit suicide or take pills for depression.
it's silly to think people would want the discrimination, homophobia, hate crimes, being disowened, not being able to love publicly.

I agree with most of what you have said, but I also think there are times when people do decide to be gay. I knew a woman who, after her husband died of cancer, started living with another woman. They stayed together for the rest of their lives. It's not that she was gay to begin with or even bi, she just couldn't imagine replacing her husband with another man, but couldn't accept the idea of a life of loneliness either. I don't know how sexual their life was, but I assume it was fulfilling.
